How We Met

Like many modern love stories, ours technically started with a swipe—but it was a mutual friend who really gets the credit. He introduced us one warm Saturday in July at City Grill. Over drinks and easy conversation, Anthony promised to take me to his favorite Italian restaurant for our first official date. (That didn’t happen right away—but he made sure I didn’t forget.) After I left that night, he texted me nonstop to make sure I got home safe—and yes, to remind me again about that Italian dinner. Just a few days later, that same mutual friend called Anthony at 10 p.m. asking if he could help move me into my college apartment the next morning. What I didn’t know then is that Anthony is the MVP of moving days—he never hesitates to lend a hand. Without skipping a beat, he said yes. The next day, he showed up bright and early, ready to lift boxes—and met my mom for the first time. She’s warm, big-hearted, and makes a strong first impression. The kind of mom who makes sure you’re fed, asks all the questions, and keeps everyone laughing. Thankfully, Anthony wasn’t scared off—in fact, she sealed the deal with donuts and Chipotle. Eventually, we went on that promised Italian date… and while I wasn’t a fan of the food (an ongoing joke between us), the company was perfect. He asked me to be his girlfriend on August 15th, 2018, and now—eight years later—we’re getting married on August 15th, 2026.

The Swipe That Stuck

The Proposal 

Anthony pulled off a proposal that felt like something out of a movie—but even better, it was so us. He planned every detail himself and chose the most meaningful place to do it: my childhood home. Before the big moment, he did things the right way—he asked my dad for his blessing, and even talked to my younger brother, Joey, who was 16 at the time. Joey took the whole thing very seriously… but in the most Joey way possible. It wasn’t so much about protecting me as it was making sure Anthony knew what he was getting into. Once you’re in, you’re in—no turning back. He meant it with love (and maybe a tiny bit of warning). When the day finally came, I walked into my parents’ house and found it filled with all our family and friends, each holding a candle. It was warm, glowing, and completely surreal. Anthony led me to the back porch—beautifully decorated, of course—got down on one knee, and said the most thoughtful, heartfelt words. And the ring? Huge. Gorgeous. Absolutely perfect. I was ready to say yes before he could even get the words out. It was everything I could’ve dreamed of—romantic, emotional, and so full of love. There were big smiles, tight hugs, and very loud reactions to the ring (rightfully so).

Bridesmaids

Our story began in seventh grade at her grandmother's dance studio, but fate had bigger plans for us. What started as a friendship blossomed into an unbreakable sisterhood. Through countless sleepovers, shared family moments, and years of growing up together, Nicole became the little sister I never had but always wanted. Her unwavering loyalty, refreshing honesty, and infectious humor make her not just my Maid of Honor, but truly my sister. Nicole has been there through every chapter of my story, and I couldn't imagine this special day without her by my side.

From high school hallways to wedding aisles, Emily and I have written countless chapters of friendship together. She's truly the yin to my yang - balancing me in ways only a best friend can. We've shared endless laughter, dried each other's tears, and celebrated life's biggest moments together. Having stood beside her on her special day as her Maid of Honor, it feels perfectly fitting to have her return the honor. Our friendship is a beautiful testament to how some hearts just understand each other, through every up and down life brings.

From unlikely beginnings to an unbreakable bond, Zoey has become my soul sister in every sense of the word. What started as mutual indifference transformed into the most beautiful obsession of friendship. Gina has grown from my cool older cousin into a woman of faith I deeply admire - the big sister my heart always knew I needed. We share countless interests — from music and video games to anime and manga — and he’s truly a ride-or-die friend I can trust with anything. Over the years, I’ve also gotten to know his incredible family, from gaming with his brother Tanner to cheering on his younger brother Owen at Amerks games.

Brodie is loyal, intelligent, and one of the most grounded people I know. He’s the kind of friend who tells me when I’m wrong, supports me when I’m doubting myself, and keeps me focused on the man I want to be. He’s been an anchor in my life — steady, honest, and irreplaceable — and I’m proud to have him standing beside me on my wedding day.

Everyone needs a Robbie in their life — but this one’s mine, so back off. Robbie and I became best friends through high school football and later realized we lived just minutes apart. During COVID, he was one of the only people I could see, and we spent countless days hanging out, doing absolutely nothing yet somehow laughing nonstop the entire time.

Even when he moved to Colorado, our friendship never wavered. Now that he’s back in Rochester, it’s like he never left. Robbie’s the kind of friend who brings calm and humor into every situation, and Alicia and I are both so grateful to have him and his amazing family in our lives.

Joey and I are four years apart and grew up like typical brothers — constantly fighting over the TV or video games and driving each other crazy. But as we got older, all that rivalry turned into mutual respect and a genuine friendship.

Nick and I became friends in high school through mutual friends and instantly clicked. I’ve spent countless hours hanging out at his parents’ house, laughing until our stomachs hurt. Nick is one of the funniest people I know, and we share a love for stand-up comedy (shoutout Matt and Shane!). He’s got that same fiery Italian spirit as Alicia and is always the funniest person in the room.

No matter how busy life gets, Nick is someone I can always count on. We’ve taken countless trips together, and one thing’s for sure — if Nick’s there, it’s guaranteed to be a good time.

When we were in high school, Adam was a few years ahead of me, and I mostly knew him as one of the big football guys walking the halls — or when I’d occasionally see him hanging out with Robbie. We didn’t really become friends until a few mutual hangouts at Robbie’s house, right before Adam moved to Colorado for a few years. It was tough seeing a new friendship cut short, but I respected his decision and just wanted him to be happy.

Even after he moved, we stayed close — playing video games, catching up on Discord, and hosting him and Robbie whenever they came back to visit. Now that Adam’s back living in Rochester, I’m selfishly glad to have him nearby again. Over the years, I’ve come to know him as a kindhearted, intelligent, and loyal friend who’s always there to listen when I need to talk.

Adam Schempp

Zimmer and I met in high school but didn’t become close until after graduation. We had a lot of mutual friends, and once we actually started hanging out, it was clear right away that we were building something special. Zimmer’s a huge music lover, and we’ve been to four music festivals together — some of the best times of our lives.

He’s one of the most loyal people I know and has one of the biggest hearts. Zimmer would drop everything to help a friend in need and is always there to listen without hesitation. We also share a love for working out, and seeing him at the gym every day has become a small but important part of my routine. I’m lucky to have him as a friend and proud to have him standing by my side on my wedding day.

Out of all my friends, I’ve known Brian the longest. Funny story — when we were about eight or nine, our parents, who were high school friends, got together for dinner and brought us along. Years later, in middle school, Brian and I met again through mutual friends and completely forgot we’d already known each other. When we told our families, they laughed and said, “Yeah, you two have met before!”

Brian and I share a deep love of movies and shows — to the point where we basically have our own language of movie quotes that probably drives everyone else crazy. He’s hilarious, full of energy, and truly the life of the party. I’m grateful to have a friend who’s been part of my story for so long and who still makes every moment more fun.

Sean and I met in high school through mutual friends and quickly became close. He joined in on our yearly friends’ camping trips, and during college I spent countless weekends driving up to Brockport to visit him — usually crashing in his tiny dorm room or cramped college house. Those were some of the best and most memorable times of my life.

When Sean joined the Army and lived in Texas and South Korea, our friendship never wavered. Even with the distance, we always stayed in touch, and when he came home, it felt like no time had passed at all. Sean is one of those rare friends you can always pick up right where you left off. He’s caring, loyal, and steady — the kind of friend you can count on through every season of life, and I’m proud to have him standing beside me.

Matt and I have known each other since high school, but we didn’t become close until our college years. Once we did, it didn’t take long to see what an upbeat, genuine, and kindhearted person he is. Matt quickly became a big part of my life and our friend group, joining us on yearly trips and events and bringing his signature positivity everywhere he goes.

No matter what’s happening in his own life, Matt always takes the time to check in, ask how you’re doing, and truly listen. We share a lot of the same interests — from video games and anime to lifting at the gym — and he’s one of the easiest people to talk to. Matt is the kind of friend who lights up every room he walks into, and Alicia and I are so thankful to have him as part of our core circle supporting us on this special day.

Austin and I met in middle school, and while we didn’t know each other well at first, by the end of high school we had become great friends. He’s the life of the party — always bringing positive energy, laughter, and good vibes wherever he goes. Austin truly cares about his friends and family, always making sure everyone feels included and is having a great time.

We’ve shared countless fun trips and parties together, and once you experience one with Austin, you never want to go without him. Recently, he became a father, and I have no doubt he’s going to be the best dad anyone could ask for.

Brandon and I met at the gym a few years ago and quickly became close friends. We’re both a little competitive when it comes to working out, constantly pushing each other to go harder and do better. What started as gym banter turned into a genuine friendship built on respect and encouragement.

Brandon is one of those rare people who will always pick up the phone, no matter how busy he is, and listen without judgment. He’s loyal, kind, and constantly puts others before himself. Making new friends later in life isn’t always easy, but with Brandon, it was effortless — and I’m grateful to have him standing by my side on this special day.

Joey is Alicia’s younger brother and has been part of my life for the past seven years. He’s a senior in high school, a dedicated baseball player, and a total gym rat — so naturally, we bonded over workouts and friendly competition. Joey’s funny, easygoing, and always brings great energy wherever he goes. Nick is Alicia’s cousin and an important part of her family. At 16, he’s incredibly smart, thoughtful, and mature beyond his years.
